The Summit is aimed at professionals wishing to contribute to building
and strengthening civil society structures in the Middle East. The
participants will create and activate an international network to
pursue this goal. The conference will be centered around active, directed,
and practical break-out sessions with Arab and Western experts with
the task of producing concrete project proposals to be implemented
in the region. The AWS aims to provide the mechanism for coordinating
the implementation of these ideas following the Summit and transforming
them into reality. |

The AWS is committed to foster positive change in civil society structures
in the Arab World. It is based on the premise that Arabs residing
in the Western democracies have a key role to play in real and sustainable
development in the Arab World. By tapping into the wealth of professional
competencies found both in the Arab World and among Arabs living and
working in the West, the AWS can assist in the goals set forth in
the UNDP Arab Human Development Reports. We wish to assist in building
the connections between Western Arabs and the Arab world to address
challenging developmental issues. |
